Morse Taper Adjustable Adapter Assembly (Scully-Jones spindle extenstion)
|
Features:
Automive Shank:
An automotive shank consists of a modified straight shank with whistle-notch, a Acme threaded section and
Woodruff key for locating and driving the shank within the holder. The threads are used to set the desired depth
that the automotive-shank tool holder can be inserted into the automotive adaptor by adjusting a collar (nut)
that travels along the threads.
Shank conforms to automotive standard ANSI/ASME B5.11 (1987).
Taper is precision ground for excellent concentricity of the holder.
Concentricity from shank to taper is held to less than .002 in. at a 6.0 in. projection.
Shank portion is hardened and ground to ensure concentricity.
Outside taper is precision ground for excellent concentricity of the holder.
The O.D. of the body is not finished to run in bushings.
Assemblies include adjusting nut and drive key (except where noted).
The lock nut provides the positive positioning desired in the spindle.
The gripping action of the nut set screw does not damage the adapter threads.
The shank set screw flat angles up from the depth indicated (R) to 0" depth at the end of the shank.

Notes:
Most of these measurements were taken with a dial caliper on actual units I have in stock.
Collis Tool versions of these adapters are virtually identical to the Scully-Jones units.
The few Collis units I have measure the same for all the dimensions listed above.
